There is some good news for students
in Wuxi, Jiangsu Province: A medical fund for schoolchildren,
suffering from major and/or serious illnesses, will be set
up by the Red Cross Society of Wuxi. Also, an overall medical
insurance, for juveniles and children suffering from major
illnesses, will be set up by the city's labor and social
security department and several other government departments.
Several such problems remain to be solved in the city.
For example, a Grade 2 junior middle school student, surnamed
Li, had a major illness and was hospitalized. Her father
was already dead, so the family
lived in poverty and couldn't afford to pay her medical
expenses. The school organized some fund-raisers among teachers
and students, which generated 7,456 yuan (US $932). Li was
fortunate, but what about the many other schoolchildren
who are seriously ill in Wuxi?
The insurance plans will help them. That's why many people
have said, "From now on, our schoolchildren will be
doubly covered, if they have a major or serious illness!"
According to the Red Cross Society of Wuxi, the medical
fund's premiums are low and the benefits are high. In addition, the
fund receives donations from various circles.
